A Warm Welcome Awaits You

If you have never attended a Havan before, you are in good company. Many people who join us are coming for the first time. You do not need any special knowledge or experience. Everyone is welcome, and members of our community will be glad to guide you.

When You Arrive

Our monthly gathering takes place on the second Sunday of each month from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hindu Temple of Ottawa-Carleton, 4835 Bank Street, Ottawa. When you arrive, friendly volunteers will greet you. Feel free to sit wherever you are comfortable.

The Havan Ceremony

At the heart of the gathering is the Havan. A priest leads the ceremony, reciting sacred mantras and making offerings into a sacred fire. The fire represents light, purity, and transformation. You are welcome to listen, follow along, or simply observe in a spirit of reflection.

After the Ceremony

Following the Havan, we share Bhajans (devotional songs), Pravachan (a short reflection), and Sammilan (friendly conversation). Then everyone shares Preeti-Bhoj, a warm community meal. This is a wonderful time to meet people, ask questions, and feel at home.

What to Wear

Wear comfortable, modest clothing. Many people choose traditional Indian attire, but this is not required. Come as you are.

What to Bring

You do not need to bring anything. Admission is free. If you wish, you may bring a friend or family member. Children are always welcome.

We look forward to welcoming you. If you have any questions before your visit, please reach out through our contact form.
