Volunteering and Seva at Arya Samaj

What Is Seva?

Seva means selfless service — helping others without expecting anything in return. It is one of the core values of Arya Samaj. The principle is simple: we find our own progress in the progress of all.

Why Service Matters

When we serve others, we strengthen our community and ourselves. Service builds friendship, understanding, and a shared sense of purpose. It is a practical way to live the Vedic values of compassion and fairness.

Ways to Help at Arya Samaj

There are many simple ways to contribute, whatever your age or experience. You might help set up chairs before the gathering, assist with the community meal (Preeti-Bhoj), welcome newcomers and help them feel at home, share a skill such as music for Bhajans, or support Vedic learning for children and youth.

Service for Every Age

Seva is for everyone. Children can help in small ways and learn the joy of giving. Youth can take on responsibilities and build leadership. Adults and seniors can share wisdom and experience. Every contribution, large or small, is valued.

How to Get Started

If you would like to volunteer, the easiest way is to join us at a monthly Havan and speak with a member of our community. You can also reach out through our contact form and let us know you are interested in volunteering.

However you choose to help, you will be joining a caring community that welcomes your gifts and your time.

Join Us This Month

Every second Sunday • 3–6 p.m. at the Hindu Temple of Ottawa-Carleton, 4835 Bank Street, Ottawa. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
